VirtualBox has it covered

November 5, 2011

Over a month ago I posted that I couldn’t get the new Windows 8 VHD running on my computers. Jeff Brick told me he had success using Oracle’s VirtualBox to run 64bit OSs on Windows 7. I had forgotten about this option and luckily Jeff did the work on it to determine how the storage has to be configured with the VHD to get this to work. Thanks Jeff! Now I have Windows 8 and the TFS11 preview running with 6GB on my Windows 7 laptop. With the 2GB left for my machine I still can be productive with the rest of my Win7 applications.

If you want more details on configuring VirtualBox to run the Windows 8 Developer Preview check out John Papa’s post.
