Another receipe for our long weekend: Marinated flank steak
Ok, keeping with the non-tech weekend posts since I’ve gotten good feedback from people on it, here’s another of our favorites. Flank steak is more expensive but, is very lean and tasty. This receipe makes four servings. The best way to plan for this is to marinate it overnight. You can marinate it in the morning and cook it up in the evening but, we’ve got a long weekend so get out and get yourself some.
1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
2 teaspons of honey
1 teaspoon ground gingerroot
2 teaspoons of lemon peel or zest
2 tablespoons of minced garlic
1 tablespoon dry sherry
pinch of red pepper flakes
1 pound of flank steak
Combine ingredients in a gallon size ZipLoc bag, slice the flank steak into strips (usually we make them 2 1/2 inch wide strips) and refrigerate overnight.
You can grill or broil the steaks. When you take the strips out of the Ziploc bag pat the excess marinade off and rub some olive oil on them. The recommended grilling time is four minutes on each side but, its up to you on how well you want them done. Sue likes them more well done, I like them medium rare.
In our case we tripled the receipe last time since our teenagers turn into carnivores when we cook this up 🙂
